Central Park is the largest urban business park development in Europe, covering a total of 472 acres. It is designed to bring high added value businesses into North and East Manchester and in so doing re-establish the economy of the area. The long term plan is for the park to be a mixed development combining the innovation and enterprise of new and smaller knowledge based businesses with the more orderly approach of their larger counterparts. This reflects the synergy between the larger companies with their global out reach and overseas supply chains and the need of smaller more locally confined enterprises to reach out to suppliers and customers across the world.
The combination is designed to establish a solid foundation for long term economic growth in North East Manchester providing the population with the opportunity to contribute to the new economy and to secure for themselves and for their children a substantive future. In so doing it will return to those families the long term prosperity that was lost with the cotton industry.
One Central Park rests at the heart of the development. It represents the innovative and entrepreneurial side of the equation. It also commits the university and further education establishments of Manchester with their huge resources of equipment people knowledge and skills to the rejuvenation of North East Manchester and to the companies that settle and grow on Central Park.
Central Park and One Central Park are bold experiments. But they are beginning to work.
