Manchester Start up, CherryPath, Scoops Five-figure Technology Strategy Board Funding Award

Manchester-based software start-up, CherryPath Systems, has won £25,000 competition for funding run by the Technology Strategy Board (TSB).

The money will pay for a feasibility study to develop the company's early-stage concept for a suite of new mobile phone applications. The software will enable the leisure and entertainment markets to offer and distribute personalised digital content and personalised services to their clients.

The competition received over 1500 entries from across the UK, but CherryPath were one of only 80 across the UK to win an award.

The company, located at One Central Park in New East Manchester, successfully demonstrated how their software was in tandem with the Government’s initiatives and visions for a Digital Britain, including providing a favourable climate for investment and innovation in digital content, applications and services and developing the nation’s digital skills at all levels.

Simon Lader, CEO, CherryPath Systems said,

"This award is a massive endorsement of our company's innovative approach to mobile communication problem solving. We believe that this project could really put CherryPath on the map. We have received some wonderful support from so many people, not least the University of Manchester Incubator Company (UMIC) who manage the hub of approximately 20 hi-tech SME’s based at One Central Park. This funding is a wonderful way to begin repaying the faith that so many have placed in us."

Established in May 2009, CherryPath Systems has already grown to three people and are currently in the process of employing a project manager to oversee the technical aspects of the feasibility study and are in advanced talks with one North West based organisation who are interested in deploying CherryPath’s technology.

Jill Playfair, UMIC’s Operations Manager Hi-Tech said,

"Well done CherryPath!  The team at UMIC are all about providing new and innovative businesses a firm foundation for long term economic growth, prosperity and personal fulfilment.  Our hi-tech business incubator at One Central Park offers an excellent environment to make that happen. We have great admiration for CherryPath's energy and innovation.  We hope this award spurs them on to bigger and better things, helping to create new jobs, new investment and new opportunities in the community of East Manchester in the process."
